Getting involved

Alongside our dedicated AFBC board, we have dynamic committees driving initiatives and events in alignment with our core objectives.

Our efforts are fueled by the dedication of volunteers, and we're continually seeking fresh ideas and hands-on support to sustain our progress. Here are several avenues through which you can join us.

Join a Committee

Join our committees and become an integral part of shaping the future of our organization. We're actively seeking passionate volunteers to contribute their skills and expertise to our ongoing initiatives while also welcoming fresh ideas for new projects. Whether you're eager to lend a hand with our current plans or excited to propose innovative initiatives, there's a place for you on our team. Together, we'll work collaboratively to make a meaningful impact on the architectural community. Join us today and be a catalyst for positive change!

IDEA
Committee

The Inclusion, Diversity & Equity in Architecture Committee is dedicated to exploring the demographic makeup and obstacles within our province's architectural landscape. Last summer, we initiated our inaugural survey to gather data, and we aspire to sustain this effort, nuturing impactful dialogues in the community to foster a more equitable profession.

Intern
Committee

Our Intern Committee comprises Intern Architects, organizing inclusive events aimed at enriching the design community. Last year, we curated studio and project tours, orchestrated the awards night after-party, and collaborated with community partners for events like a movie night with ADFF and an installation at IDS West.

Awards
Committee

The Awards Committee organizes two distinguished alternating biennial events: the Design Excellence Awards ceremony, which acknowledges outstanding projects across the province, and the Recognition Awards, dedicated to honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to our industry.

Advocacy & Practice Committee

The Advocacy & Practice Committee consists of architects, interns, and allied professionals.  We're currently exploring how best to support and advocate for members, especially given the evolving mandate of the AIBC and its focus on regulation.  A questionnaire will be distributed this spring through the AIBC and related channels to help us determine our focus for the coming year.
